February 19th is an important day for a few reasons this year. The absolute most important reason is because it’s my older brother Brendan’s birthday! A secondary reason is because on this day last year the market peaked right before taking a COVID-19 related nosedive. It’s remarkable what can happen in a year!
Here’s what I’ve been reading this morning:

’12 Things I Remind Myself When Markets Go Crazy’ – Ben Carlson – A Wealth of Common Sense
- To say the market has been crazy over the last 12 months would certainly be putting in plainly. In his latest post, Ben offers 12 important points to remember when markets are anything but normal.
’22 Predictions’ – Michael Batnick – The Irrelevant Investor
- We often say we’re not in the predicting business, but every once in a while it can be fun to put down some thoughts on what you think might, or might not, happen. Michael does just that in his latest post.
- The Padres 22-year old shortstop recently scored a MASSIVE payday. His 14-year contract extension is one of the largest in MLB history, and this story outlines how a percentage of his earnings will go towards an investment fund that invested in him during the minors.
