When it comes to the discussion of owning vs. renting a home, owning definitely has its benefits. HOWEVER, when your AC unit leaks in your attic and causes your bathroom ceiling to cave in, I would definitely NOT put that on the benefits list. This water damage example is the reason why Top Links has been a little bit late so far this week. Apologies!
Here’s what I’ve been reading this morning:
‘The Most Difficult Decision in Finance’ – Brendan Mullooly – Your Brain on Stocks
- Brendan returns to the blog with a dynamite piece last week! He writes about the decision to get back IN to the market after jumping out when a downturn scares you. On paper it sounds easy, but Brendan talks about why it’s the most difficult decision in finance.
‘The Worst Years Ever for a 60/40 Portfolio’ – Ben Carlson – A Wealth of Common Sense
- Ben has previously looked back at the worst years for the market, but plenty of people aren’t 100% in the market. So what have been the worst market for a commonly used allocation like a 60/40 portfolio? Don’t worry, Ben has that for us too!
‘Solve Life Backwards’ – Nick Maggiulli – Of Dollars and Data
- Trying to figure out life’s biggest challenges can be difficult when looking from your current state of problems. However, Nick writes about why it may be more effective to reverse engineer your life goals.
‘How the Housing Market Has Changed America’ – Ben Carlson – A Wealth of Common Sense
- After seeing how housing development changed Marco Island in Florida, Ben decided to dig into how the explosion of housing projects and the housing market have changed our country over the last handful of decades.
ENJOY!
