*A personal note here*
One of my fraternity brothers from college is going through a rough time right now. He is in the hospital recovering from complications during his heart transplant surgery. He’s strong, and I have faith he will pull through, but please keep him in your thoughts. Please also consider donating to his recovery fund GoFundMe set up by his family!
Here’s what I’ve been reading this morning:
‘There is Nothing Wrong With a Traditional Career’ – Nick Maggiulli – Of Dollars and Data
- The culture of entrepreneurship over the last few years has shifted to almost belittling those who choose a normal 9-5 work life. Nick writes about why it’s more important WHAT you do with your money than HOW you make it.
‘Unemployment Benefits and Your Taxes’ – Mullooly Asset Blog
- Piggybacking off of Ep. 315 of the podcast, we wrote about three different ways to avoid a tax issue next year if you’ve been collecting unemployment. Unlike the stimulus checks, unemployment benefits are taxable income.
‘7 Items Your Estate Plan May Have Left Out’ – Christine Benz – Morningstar
- If you already have an estate plan in place, hats off to you! If not, there is still time. Christine wrote about seven things that may not be included in your estate plan that probably SHOULD be included.
‘Will There Be a Second $1,200 Check?’ – Lorie Konish – CNBC
- It’s been a few months since the first round of stimulus checks went out. There have been rumblings of a second wave of checks, but nothing has been formally announced. This post takes a look at what we know so far.
ENJOY!
