Welcome back to another week of Top Links! Today is 22nd anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Even more than two decades later, it’s important to remember the events of that day, and be grateful for what we have today!
Here’s what I’ve been reading this morning:
‘Never Look Down the Road Not Taken’ – Nick Maggiulli – Of Dollars and Data
- Using a story from Magic Johnson and an endorsement deal with Nike, Nick talks about avoiding regret with stocks. Thinking what could have been is sort of a “mirage” because it’s impossible to know what would’ve happened in that alternate reality.
‘How Safe is Gold?’ – John Rekenthaler – Morningstar
- When markets get volatile, some investors flee to the gold market for “safety”. But is gold really that much of a safe haven? This article looks at the returns of gold and if it really has any safety in it at all.
‘6 Questions I’m Pondering at the Moment’ – Ben Carlson – A Wealth of Common Sense
- There are a lot of questions to be answered in markets today, but Ben focuses in on six in this post. He writes about tech stocks, interest rates, the economy and its “soft landing”, and more!
- Do you have a child with a summer job? The earnings from those jobs can be socked away in things like a Roth IRA to help them jumpstart retirement savings. This article talks about those benefits and more.
ENJOY!
